West Side Antiquarian Book and Ephemera Fair
April 4-5, 2008 New York, NY
The West Side Antiquarian Book and Ephemera Fair will be held during New York Book Fair week at Hunter College on 68th Street and Lexington Avenue on Friday, April 4th from 8 AM-8 PM and Saturday, April 5th from 8 AM-4PM. This show promises to deliver an exceptional selection of antiquarian books, prints, maps, and paper ephemera from dealers who aim to reach the novice and seasoned collector alike. With prices ranging from $10 to $100,000, this fair ensures that book, print and ephemera collecting can be enjoyed by everyone. The West Side Antiquarian Book and Ephemera Fair will be held within walking distance of the annual Antiquarian Booksellers Association of America Book Fair at the Park Avenue Armory between 66th and 67th on Park Avenue, allowing international dealers and collectors convenient access to the satellite fair.
In what is touted as New York's most innovative and progressive fair in the industry, the West Side Antiquarian Book and Ephemera Fair will include several features this year to entice and excite the curious collector and the refined exhibitor. The creative initiatives of D. Curto, Creative Director of babf Promotions, include an internet café, a $500 New Collector Contest, and valet parking for exhibitors. These initiatives aim to spark interest among burgeoning collectors and reinvigorate the passion of dedicated collectors, as well as provide elevated service levels to exhibitors. “We are striving to create an elegant atmosphere where book collecting can transition from the Old World to the New with relative ease” says Curto, who brings over 30 years of experience in show production and visual presentation to the West Side Antiquarian Book and Ephemera Fair. “We intentionally moved our high-end show from the west side to the east side for this spring production in order to offer the ABAA exhibitors and guests a place to shop in close proximity to their show” states Bruce Gventer, Owner/Director of babf Promotions. “Our new location has attracted many high-end exhibitors, who are eager to present their material to our devoted clientele.”
Innovation and progress are two of the reasons why Bloomsbury Auctions is sponsoring the West Side Antiquarian Book and Ephemera Fair at Hunter College on 68th Street and Lexington Avenue this year. The recent launch of Bloomsbury Auctions' New York saleroom in September of 2007 in Midtown Manhattan has stimulated the company's interest in developing its reputation state-side for providing customers with the exceptional service and expertise they are accustomed to from Bloomsbury Auctions in London and Rome. “As New York's most recent addition to the auction scene, we are pleased to support activities that encourage collectors to further their collecting interests” says Tom Lamb, International Head of Books and Manuscripts for Bloomsbury Auctions. “We are excited by this opportunity to share our expertise and passion for books with the fair visitors, and our specialists will be available to provide advice and counsel at all times during the fair on individual items as well as on collection building and management.”
